Log the brew
Dose, yield, time — captured in seconds, in your workflow. Works for espresso shots and pour-over pours alike.
iPhone and iPad · The filter update
Calibrates from your own pulls — not crowd data. Speaks your grinder's native clicks. Espresso and pour-over. Converges in 1–2 brews, fully offline.

Kaffedex converging an espresso in two pulls, start to dial-in
From pull to decision
Kaffedex watches two pulls on your gear and derives a per-burr sensitivity from your actual shots — no guesswork, no crowd data, no internet required. The same engine now works for espresso and pour-over on the same bean.
Dose, yield, time — captured in seconds, in your workflow. Works for espresso shots and pour-over pours alike.
Explicit finer/coarser direction in your grinder's native clicks or marks — not just a vague "go finer."
Make the suggested move, log the result — converge in 1–2 brews instead of a dozen wasted shots.
Two brew methods. One engine.
The latest update ships filter and pour-over as a full second pillar. The same offline calibration engine that dials in espresso now guides your V60, Switch, flat-bed, and any hand grinder you prefer for filter work.
Log dose, yield, and time. Get the next grind + dose move in your grinder's native clicks. Calibration lives on your burr — swap to SSP, Mizen, or any aftermarket set and the math follows. Converge in 1–2 shots.
Per-model dripper icons, a ratio wheel, a per-pour journal, paper cross-compatibility guidance, and a guided brew player with vessel simulation, teleprompter pour cues, and lift-off / retention handling. Works with multi-mechanism hand grinders including 1Zpresso ZP6 and Kinu.
Inside the app
What's new in the filter update
Vessel simulation, teleprompter pour cues, and lift-off / retention handling. No Bluetooth scale required.
Point the camera at a Kaffedex recipe card QR code to import the recipe instantly.
Coffee science built into the app — varieties, processing, extraction physics, and roast-level guidance.
A 6-tier roast-level colour picker and cold-start grind card for first-shot confidence on a new bag.
Describe the shot — sour, hollow, thin — and get a grind or dose move that addresses the cause. Also: the varietal density library for known channelers.
On the roadmap
The filter update is live on the App Store. Up next: deeper sensory tooling and tools for cafes and roasteries dialing in at scale — built the same way, gear-aware and offline-first.
Pick a saved photo of a Kaffedex recipe card from your library and the app finds the QR code automatically — no need to have the physical card in hand.
A grind / agitation / temp / ratio causal model that informs the planner and diagnosis — so the suggestion names the most likely cause, not just the symptom. AI coaching is a separate Pro layer on top.
Built for cafes dialing in at scale: duplicate a log in a tap, capture carafe and cup counts for panel tasting, print recipe cards to a thermal printer, and put your brand on every card you share.
Questions
No. Kaffedex does not require an account or login. Your data stays on your device and syncs via iCloud if you choose.
Your beans, pulls, recipes, and notes are stored on your device with optional iCloud sync. You can export a backup from the app at any time.
Kaffedex includes presets for a wide range of espresso and filter grinders — including multi-mechanism hand grinders like the 1Zpresso ZP6 and Kinu — and native adjustment units for each. If your grinder isn't listed, you can enter your own steps. After two pulls with a meaningful grind change, the app derives a per-burr sensitivity from your own data and uses that instead of the preset.
Yes. The latest update ships filter and pour-over as a full second pillar: per-model dripper icons, ratio wheel, per-pour journal, paper cross-compatibility guidance, and a guided brew player with vessel simulation and teleprompter pour cues.
Yes. Tap the QR scan option in the recipe importer and point your camera at a Kaffedex recipe card — the app reads the code automatically. (Importing a QR from a saved photo in your library is coming in a future update.)
The core dial-in engine works entirely offline without any hardware. Supported Bluetooth scales can send weight and time readings directly into a pull log if you want them.
Only the relevant request content is sent for processing when you choose an AI feature. Kaffedex has no advertising and no third-party analytics.
Free: unlimited bean and pull logging, full rule-based dial-in suggestions, all filter and pour-over features, iCloud sync, and manual Agtron entry. Pro: varietal-density library, taste-note AI coaching, and the fully guided filter bundle.
